Privacy Policy

This notice describes the features included in this website.

Page requests

Articles can be read without an account. The website contains no payment feature, advertising trackers or analytics service. Images, styles and scripts are included with the website files; fonts come from your device. The hosting provider processes connection information to deliver pages. The scope and retention of server logs depend on the hosting configuration.

Language selection using your IP address

When you open the root address without a language path, your browser contacts the IPWHOIS service at ipwho.is directly. That service receives your IP address and ordinary connection information. Only success status and a country code are requested. Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein select German; other or unknown countries select English. A failure or a five-second timeout falls back to English. This estimates the location of a connection, not the languages you personally speak.

Explicit German and English pages do not contact this service. Choosing DE or EN saves that selection in your browser’s local storage under fernholz-language and gives it priority on later root-address visits. Change it using the website’s language links or remove it by clearing website data. IPWHOIS privacy notice

Search and filters

Search, topic filtering and page selection run in your browser. Your selection may appear as parameters in the page address. Loading or sharing that address may expose those parameters to the hosting provider or the recipient. Search terms are not sent to an external search provider.

Email and external links

A contact link opens your email application. If you send a message, the information it contains is used to handle your enquiry. Questions about this can be sent to fernholz@fernholz-it.de. Linked manufacturer websites have their own privacy notices.
