Try the ordinary wake method
Use the device's normal wake control, such as opening the lid or briefly pressing the power button according to its instructions. Do not hold the button down as the first step. Connect the appropriate charger if the battery may have run low. Allow a short interval for the display and connected equipment to respond.
If an external monitor is involved, check the laptop's own screen where available. Verify the monitor has power and the correct input. A disconnected dock can leave you looking at an inactive display while the computer itself is awake. Reconnect only the display path needed for the test, without unplugging storage during activity.
Record a repeatable pattern
If the device wakes normally after a restart but fails again later, note whether it happens on battery, with the lid closed or only through the dock. Review supported sleep and wake settings for the exact model. Available options differ across machines, so a setting described for another computer may not exist on yours.
Install relevant system and manufacturer updates through official channels. Test again with the same simple arrangement. Avoid changing several power options and drivers simultaneously; that makes it difficult to know which change affected the behaviour.
Recover without losing sight of the files
If ordinary controls do not work, follow the manufacturer's procedure for an unresponsive device. A forced power-off can lose unsaved changes, so use it as recovery rather than a daily routine. After restarting, check the application's recovery options and save any recovered document separately before overwriting an existing file.
Repeated failures deserve a support report with model, system version, power setup and peripherals. Mention whether the issue is failure to sleep, unexpected waking or failure to wake: those are different symptoms even though all occur around the same part of the day.
